Have you known someone that will never be written about in a history book, but made a profound difference in your life, or the lives of others?  A nobody that was a real somebody?  This is the place to tell their story.  Your submission will be reviewed and appear within a day or two.

    Anne Boleyn

Most of us would much prefer being left out of history altogether to being remembered for being beheaded.  Such was the fate of Anne Boleyn, English King Henry VIII's 2nd and most controversial wife.

Stan
He grew up in rural poverty, the son of a brutal alcoholic.  As a man, Stan would tell the story of a boyhood memory.  He fainted while his father was beating him, came to a few seconds later and his father was still strapping him.

Fortunately, Stan's mother, though also one of her husband's targets, taught her son that no matter what, he was a bright and strong individual.  She taught him to love music and art, and encouraged his strong sense of curiosity about how things work.  She taught him to laugh and find the good in people.

Stan joined the Navy after high school and took advantage of the G.I. Bill to get a college education.  By the time he was 30 he'd capitalized on his engineering skills.  His manufacturing company would eventually employ thousands and sell products around the world.

Most remarkably, in his 60s, Stan maintains a childlike curiosity and infectious enthusiasm for life.  Employees, friends and business associates are drawn to him and inspired to push themselves to higher levels of achievement.

I've known people who are smarter, kinder, wealthier, more influential and wiser than Stan, but I've not known anyone I would rather be.

Have you known a Stan?  Or another memorable nobody?
This is the place to tell their story.
